Ireland is rapidly emerging as one of Europe’s most compelling destinations for cycling events. With its stunning mountain-to-sea landscape, it is a natural stage for high-energy and high-octane outdoor experiences. This year, among its many biking events are some major festivals that will once again draw cyclists and bikers from around the globe to enjoy world-class, family-friendly competition, touring and entertainment.

Wicklow 200 (7 June)

One of Ireland’s best‑loved mass‑participation sportives, the Wicklow 200 challenges riders with a spectacular and demanding 200km route through the iconic Wicklow Mountains. Cyclists experience steep climbs, sweeping valleys and some of the country’s most dramatic scenery, making it a bucket‑list event for both local and international riders.

Ring of Kerry Charity Cycle(4 July)

A legendary annual event that attracts thousands of cyclists, the Ring of Kerry Charity Cycle offers an unforgettable 170km loop around the world‑famous Ring of Kerry. Known for its friendly atmosphere, community spirit, and breath-taking coastal mountain views, it remains one of Ireland’s most celebrated long‑distance leisure cycles – all in support of local charities.

Slieve Bloom Mountain Bike Festival (25–26 April)

Taking place in counties Offaly and Laois in Ireland’s Hidden Heartlands, the festival welcomes riders of all abilities from those seeking epic gravel rides and fast-flowing black level trails to children and novices who can enjoy competitions across a range of lengths and difficulty. This includes the beginner-friendly Coillte Biking Blitz, a mass-start cross-country event which is a great opportunity for families or friends to bike together in a fun environment. As well as the biking events there is entertainment on the Saturday evening with the Big Bike Film Night and traditional music sessions in Kinnitty village.

Great Western Greenway– A Signature Cycling Experience

Although not a festival, the Great Western Greenway is one of Ireland’s flagship cycling routes and a must‑ride for visitors. Stretching from Westport to Achill Island in County Mayo, it delivers a spectacular journey through dramatic Atlantic landscapes, taking in Croagh Patrick, Clew Bay and the wilderness of Wild Nephin National Park. A perfect addition to any cycling‑themed trip.
